In technological terms, we could coyly dub this year as the “Year of the Tablet,” where there to be such a lateral terminology. That’s because this year, according to recent statistics that were generated by Gartner (April 2012), tablet sales this year are set to experience a staggeringly impressive growth from last year, to the tune of more than 100% in increased sales (from last year). Tantamount to the slowing down and sluggish decline of PC sales over the past few years – in lieu of smartphones and tablets taking center stage with increased functionality, faster processors and lower price tags, not to mention they take up far less space – tablets sales are on the rise, a trend that has shockingly replete remunerations (in the form of sales overall), a number that’s supposed to tally up to more than 665-million tablets in use by the year 2016. As far as this year’s sales are concerned, Gartner estimates that they will surpass 118-million.
